News From the Principal - January 23, 2009

Martin Luther King Day Celebration: On Tuesday, January 20th, we held our monthly All-School Meeting. Besides the typical business (announcing Students of the Month, recognizing students who have their writing on display, etc), we also watched technology presentations developed by our students, including a special video developed by Mrs. Audley’s class on fairness in honor of Martin Luther King Day (To see the video, you can go to Mrs. Audley’s website). During the meeting, students were also introduced to books that were nominated to receive the Bartlett Book Award this year. You may want to discuss the meeting with your child.

PTA Spaghetti Dinner: The PTA is having a Spaghetti Bowl (Spaghetti Dinner) on Thursday, January 29, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Bartlett Bistro (Bartlett Cafeteria). Please join us and some of Bartlett’s faculty and staff for a fun night and to get ready for the big game. The cost is $5.00 a person or $20.00 a family. The proceeds of this event will help with the cost of Birthday Books, the Bartlett Reading Incentive, field trips, Bartlett Bash and other PTA sponsored events. If you have any questions, please call Carolyn Blanchard at 627-4431 or email atcblanchardpta@comcast.net. We hope to see you there!

Yearbook: The yearbook is in full swing and we need pictures!!! One picture per student doing their favorite activity would be greatly appreciated. We do not want to leave any kids out and it is very difficult for us to keep track. Please email your photo to Colleen at colleencharest@comcast.net. If you do not have digital files, please send your picture to school in an enveloped, marked “Attention yearbook.” We will scan your photo and return it to you. Please be sure to include your child's and teacher's names with the photo. We need the photo no later than February 27th. The anticipated cost of the yearbook will be between $15 and $18. The books will be in full color, 48 pages with a cover designed by 4th grader. Any questions? Please contact Colleen at colleencharest@comcast.net. If you have any photographs from any Bartlett events, we would greatly appreciate you sharing them.

Lost & Found: Our lost and found box is growing on a daily basis. We have new girls boots, snowpants and hats. There are also many gloves, mittens, snow pants, sweatshirts and other clothing articles that may belong to your child! There aren’t names on many items. The box will be emptied at the end of the month to make room for next months items!!

Calling All First Graders! If you have a child that will be entering first grade next fall, or know somebody who does, please call the school at 623-8088 to begin the registration process. A child must be six years old on or before September 30th to enter the first grade.
